[Case Study] Troubles Caused by Chocolate Stops on the Line

Frequent "choco stops" during line operation! Introducing a case of improvement with the implementation of positioning sensors!

At one point on the production line, frequent troubles (chocolate stops) were occurring, and during these troubles, the line could not be stopped, causing the work from the previous process to enter the trouble area and become defective. We wanted to introduce AB control, so we summarized the current issues, which revealed three main factors: "troubles are not detected, and work is being input," "work continues to flow even while workers are engaged in recovery operations, making it unsafe," and "the working environment is poor, and the photoelectric sensor is not detecting." Therefore, we installed the positioning sensor "PS-4482" from Makome Research Institute on the line conveyor and the magnetic body "MG-102A" on the work pallet. As a result of the improvements, we achieved a work loss amount of 0 yen and realized a cost reduction of 26,568,000 yen per year. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Laser Positioning Sensor Smart LPS 1D H810

A laser displacement gauge that performs distance measurements for standard setting and inspection with high precision digitally, achieving both low cost and high accuracy.

This high-precision laser displacement sensor can measure non-contact with excellent work compatibility, allowing for a maximum of 8 connections and a high-speed sampling rate of 160 kHz. It features a space-saving design with the controller built into the sensor head. 【Features】 ■ Low cost and high precision - Outstanding linearity - Significant cost reduction for external devices due to the built-in high-speed signal processing processor and communication functions ■ Reduced installation space during expansion - No need for a dedicated controller, saving space for additional units ■ Compatibility with various measurement objects - Capable of measuring a wide variety of objects thanks to a broad dynamic range, noise reduction, and new algorithms ■ Improved work compatibility - Easily measures various works from low-reflective materials like black rubber and colored resin to high-reflective materials like mirrors and white ceramics. It can also measure the thickness of transparent materials such as glass. ■ Cost reduction - With the controller built-in, it can be directly connected to a PC for immediate measurement. This leads to space savings in equipment production and reductions in initial setup and expansion costs. ■ Increased productivity - By allowing real-time optimal settings for each workpiece with simultaneous control of 8 displacement sensors via PC, it contributes to reducing the time needed for complex production line adjustments.

Positioning sensor: Direction of movement detection, also for passing counter.

It can be used for measuring the number of times a magnet passes and for positioning equipment. It is also suitable for detecting and adjusting the position of elevator cars. There is a YouTube video available, and it is non-contact.

One target (magnetic material or magnet) switches output three or four signals. Detection of the rotation direction of the rotating body. Detection of the rotation speed of the rotating body; it can also perform addition and subtraction, which helps prevent chattering. All outputs are individual transistor outputs, making them easy to handle. I think you can get an idea by watching our YouTube videos.
